Never Too Old To Tackle Something New

As a way of keeping low self-esteem and depression at bay, I decided to do some landscape painting and drawing. Don't be afraid to pick up new things to keep your mind fresh and your perspective positive.

Thanks, Jenny. I drew this piece over the weekend down in Utah's Capitol Reef National Park. Hot but fun...

The border was made by a new program I just picked up a few hours ago. It's called EasyFrame.

Thanks for commenting.
Pride goeth before heatstroke, but it draws very well :)

That is a very interesting sketch. I really admire those than can draw, I have neither the natural talent nor the perserverance to learn how to draw 'properly'.

The words are quote thought provoking but I have yet to reach a conclusion!

Thanks, everyone.

Fatblokethin ~ They just mean that a part of me hated the drawing, but the other part of me was really proud of myself for squatting out in the heat and going through with it. I've been putting landscapes off for years because I knew I'd not be so good at them. I don't know why there is so much fear of failure wrapped up in drawing for me, but it's there and I am determined to push through the fear now. Silly, isn't it? Thanks for commenting.

Thanks for the clarification Douglas - sorry I was being 'thick'! It really is a very good drawing - reminds me of a cartoon background (that is not a critisism by the way!). Slighly abstract and distorted like sixties Warner Brothers stuff...maybe!

Thank you so much for dropping by.

what a beautiful reminder.
Lovely drawing - funny that it's a picture of two rocks, resulting in two conflicting feelings. Great post for the WW!

What a great sketch. I have always wished I could have the talent to draw.

I also love your template, I've never seen one like this before!

Great drawing! It makes me miss living close to Utah and the beautiful red rock desert.
