I've been a bit under the weather lately. I'd gauge it to be about 20,000 leagues under the weather. I know. It's unfathomable to imagine anyone being that low. Yet there I was keeping Davy Jones company when Spring had finally decided to make an appearance in Utah.
When I woke up with a ☁ above my head, I wasn't surprised. Fortunately, I had worn my galoshes before I went to bed, as well as a fluorescent yellow rain hat and bathysphere. I may have been sporting my very own rain cloud, but I was ready for the precipitation.
So I got the laundry going, cleaned the kitchen, and did my usual routine. Then I made myself write. Having a deadline that I'm excited about proved to be a very effective umbrella. By the time the kids came home I had finished another chapter in my middle grade novel. That makes two this week, which is a bit of a record even with the lost day yesterday. (Due to ⚡ and other inclement weather.)
There are over 21,000 words in my story, some of which I even like. I guestimate that there are about four to five chapters left. Then I'll be done. I'll probably write a short story as a break, then dive into the second draft of this novel. But all of that is off a bit in the distance.
In the meantime, I decided to lift my spirits tonight by baking some Chocolate Coconut Cream Eggs. The recipe wasn't the best, and they were as ugly as they were late for Easter, but it was a good break from the usual. Unfortunately, I ran out of chocolate and couldn't finish the last batch. Considering that I am trying to lose weight, the fewer finished chocolate covered eggs there are to tempt me, the happier my waist will be.
All in all a productive day even with all the in-door rain showers. Now to write some more, then crash for the night.
