Whose Body by Dorothy L. Sayers

I didn't like this book. A lot. So because I'm behind in my reviews for 2005 I'm going to be brief. This was Dorothy L. Sayers first book and I am amazed it sold enough to give her editor faith in her second novel.

Why you should read this book: If you'd like to know where the most boring parts of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire found their inspiration, you'll find them in this story's conclusion.

I haven't ever gotten around to reading Whose Body? -- my friends who recommended her books all said to start out with Strong Poison, which I quite enjoyed... but I suspect it has a whole lot to do with the character of Harriet Vane. I just can't see where Peter Whimsey would be a very interesting character without her around to play off.

BTW, Hi!!

Hi, Fen! Great to hear from you.

I enjoyed "Strong Poison" and it's the next book I'm going to review. I believe it was written 10 years after "Whose Body". Sayers is a much better writer by then and Peter isn't quite so artificially eccentric.

I was probably a bit TOO brief in my dismissal of "Whose Body"... LOL (but I am pretty behind...not much time left to 2005)

Hope you tune into my review of "Strong Poison". Should be up by Thursday night..
