The Splintered Chat #3

Last weekend's chat was a success. Interesting topics were covered and we had more than two people in there. Thanks for all involved. I'm now renaming the chat because the other one was boring.

I know you lurkers love the full RSS feed, but here's a game of Bejeweled to tempt you to come in and stay a while. Earn bragging rights and post your score below in the comments section. Of course, if the game is too interesting only the sounds of crickets will be heard below. So, to tempt you to chat let's discuss funny things you forgot because of AD/HD.

Comments will be open until late Sunday night, long after most of you have gone to bed, I bet.

Update 1/21/08 2:20:00 PM: Comments closed. Thanks for participating.

Hmm, 1365 on Simple mode. That was pitiful.

There was one time I forgot something that was pretty funny. (No, really, only the one time. :p) We had set out to buy some Tommy's Donuts (a local Salt Lake Valley company) when they opened a store in Murray. We all piled into the store, made our selections, then piled out. One dozen scrumptious donuts.

My baby was securely seatbelted and I jumped into our minivan and pulled away. A mile down the road, though, and we noticed people pointing to our roof. Yes, I had left the donuts on the roof. That very second a gust of wind blew them onto the road. I pulled to the side and watched in horror as car after truck after car drove over our donut box, which was upside down. A kind person let me at the box and the girls and I discovered to our amazement that not a single donut was crushed. Each car had passed clean over the box. My Boston Creme donut icing was on the box lid, but otherwise the donuts were still scrumptious - and seasoned with the thrill of survival.

My girls teased me about that for years. If they read this, they may start teasing me about it again for a another few years. ;)

I've made some changes to the site code. The whole site really needs an overhaul. In the meantime, I believe I've fixed the way the site renders on a mobile device. I've tested it on my iPhone and just the blog articles load, not the sidebar. It's not done yet but I think it's already more legible. What say you?

Just so you know- I'm lurking on this one. Not being ADD myself, I don't have funny stories, and somehow, with hubby as depressed as he is about his condition, I'm not sure MY laughing about his mistakes is what he needs. Perhaps when he learns to laugh at himself I can share the shoes on the car stories, or the ice cream on top of the fridge, or the store keys in his pocket, or the kids shoes at home when they get to school 30 miles away . . .

I wish I could help, Claire. The most important step I ever made towards conquering my depression was to begin laughing at myself. This was challenging considering I had raving AD/HD and was so prone to stupid mistakes. Learning to laugh at those mistakes instead of being crushed under waves of self-loathing was difficult work, but my epiphany was that my poor attitude in life was causing most of the problems I was experiencing. So I learned to laugh, and my life improved.

I e-mailed him your response. We'll see if it has any effect.

6400 timed.

5900 timed.

I'm too tired to focus, apparently. G'night!

PS- Hubby laughed at himself about three times tonight. Nice!

Claire ~ That's great news. I'm glad to hear he was able to laugh at himself. With practice he should be able to stop beating himself up so much. Keep us posted. ;)
