Thirteen Reasons Why ADHD Rocks!

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen Reasons Why ADHD ROCKS!

  1. I can come up with a new idea about every five minutes!

  2. My impatience and restlessness turns every drive to work into the Indianapolis 500. I still remember with relish those halcyon days of my youth where I was learning to drive and my father held onto the car seat for dear life, stomping on the "brake" in the passenger seat. Don't worry, Dad. My oldest is up for her driver's permit in five months. You'll finally have your revenge.

  3. Since I'm so forgetful, my wife let's me buy nifty, but very expensive electronic Personal Digital Assistants to keep track of everything! Cool! They play MP3s, too! Not that I need them for that. I have an iPod which I talked my wife into letting me buy because it would help me tune out background noise and increase productivity.

  4. My children can discover the elemental power of volcanoes up close and personal because "Mount Vesuvius" erupts whenever the noise levels get too high around the home.

  5. What were we talking about again?

  6. I'm never really bored because of the 4000 irons burning in the fire at any given moment.

  7. My penchant for putting my foot in my mouth has helped me become wonderfully skilled at diplomacy and damage control over the years due to all the apologies I've had to give.

  8. Since I'm almost always late I have become terribly fashionable in the circles I move in.

  9. Not many people can claim they've had thirty three jobs by the time they were twenty five.

  10. Being hyperactive and Italian may mean that people have to duck as I swoosh my arms around when I speak, but my upper body is quite tone for a near-forty deskbound artgeek. If I could figure out a way to use my abdomen when talking I'd be in great shape.

  11. My friends travel from miles and miles away just to sit in my entertainment room and watch me talk. I'm so animated and hyper they take bets on when my eyebrows will take flight and leave my face.

  12. I can't remember anybody's name which gives me opportunity to get to know people over and over again.

  13. Having ADHD means being a raving insomniac which means I have more hours to work! Whoohooo!

Very funny! I started to write that I wouldn't mind a little dose of ADHD so I could get more stuff done...but with my luck, the "little" dose I'd get would be the insomnia part. Thanks for visiting my T13!

Great list ~ I'm so glad you stopped by my TT and lead me to yours! I love the way that you find positive things out of stuff that most people would look at as negative...Do you give lessons on that? I sure could use some!

It's so funny that you like the book Pride and Prejudice ~ I recently tried to read it as part of my 101 things to do in 1001 days and found it nearly impossible to get into. Oh well ~ I'm with you on the Harry Potter books, though. I almost added them to the list...but just ran out of space!

Have a great weekend!

You had better keep quiet, because now everybody will want adhd. This is a great list. Plus, scrolling down, I like your depression one too. My friend, I can totally relate to that one.

Thanks for stopping by my T13, sorry it took so long to visit yours.

Douglas, that was great!!!

I see you're doing NaNoWriMo! It's great! I did it last year....and I won! by that I mean that I completed my 50,000 words and downloaded a lovely certificate! My resulting novel is a total mess, but-

1) I have the satisfaction of saying I DID IT

2) I have some great ideas buried in the rubble of that messy novel, and next year (as in Jan 2007) I plan to dust it off and get back at it. Figure out how it should all work together. It's nice to know how it ends!

Keep up the good work, Douglas!

I love this! I will do a Thursday 13 this week... providing my brain doesn't chase a rabbit elsewhere! But as a fellow ADD-er... you totally get that! :)

Wow! Talk about absentminded. I completely forgot to reply to comments here.

Jenny-up the hill ~ Good luck with NaNoWriMo. I think it's a lost cause for me this year. I simply didn't have enough time to dedicate to it.

Carol ~ LOL Great comment. Insomnia is NOT fun to have at all. I fell asleep last night FINALLY at 6am. Got up around 10am. I am so tired.

alisonwonderland ~ Likewise!

Solbearer ~ The Crow is a powerful movie. I haven't seen it in a while, but I remember liking it very much. Sorry to hear about your lack of health. I know how much that can be a drain on one's happiness. Hope you have a better December! :)

Janene ~ Finding positive things out of the negative is a carefully wrought talent I have developed over the past ten years. It doesn't come easy because it's easier to grumble, gripe, and grouse. It's even easier to feel sorry for yourself. But if you have goals you will soon see that the negative things are not as much of an obstacle as your attitude about them. As soon as I figured out that bad things happened no matter what I did, I figured out that the only thing I truly had control over was my attitude. And I prefer to be positive - even if I have to break a sweat and strain to think that way.

Life, as you know, has a way of piling on negative things like water from a bucket. Gives us optimists a real hard time. ;)

JAM ~ Hey, no worries. I appreciate the visit whenever you are able to drop by.

amy ~ Thanks!

Heidi the Hick ~ NaNoWriMo was not in my cards this year. I became swamped four days into November. I don't feel bad about it because I learned some important things about myself and my writing AND I had more important projects to work on. ;) But congrats on what you accomplished. Good luck with that novel.

Melissa ~ :) Let me know when it's up. I'll drop by and visit.

Because I try not to take my disability too seriously. Oh, serious enough to figure out how to work around it, but I won't let it get me down. Besides, learning to laugh at myself was the first step I took towards mastering myself. Good luck and thanks for your comment.
